Black Sesame-Oat Porridge 燕麥芝麻糊

This porridge is actually based on a traditional Chinese sweet dessert porridge that is normally a mixture of blended black sesame seeds and rice. Here, I'm using oats instead of rice, and I make it less sweet than the traditional one. Black sesame seeds are extremely nourishing, and contain a great amount of protein, vitamin E, magnesium, calcium, and more. By blending the two together with a little bit of soy milk, you get this really creamy and thick texture with a rich sesame flavour, just like the traditional one, plus more health benefits from the oats, walnuts, and goji berries!

Black Sesame-Oat Porridge (2 servings)

A: 3/4 C  old fashioned rolled oats
    1/2 C  hot vegan milk
    1/2 C  hot water

B: 1/2 C  ground black sesame seed powder *You can either grind it yourself or find it 
     in a Chinese grocery store.
    About 1/2 C-3/4 C vegan milk
    1-2 T  maple syrup

C: 1/4 C  roasted walnuts
    2 T     goji berries

*T = tbsp, t = tsp, C = cup

1. Combine ingredients A in a glass jar and let the mixture sit overnight in the fridge.

2. The next morning, take out the soaked overnight oats from the fridge and add it to a blender with B. Blend until smooth, and adjust the thickness by adding more milk.

3. If you like it hot (like me), you can either microwave it or heat it on the stove.

4. Transfer the black sesame oat porridge to two bowls, then garnish with ingredients C. Enjoy it!

燕麥芝麻糊 (2 人份)

A: 燕麥片         3/4 杯
    熱牛奶或豆漿 1/2 杯
    熱水            1/2 杯

B: 黑芝麻粉      1/2 杯
    牛奶或豆漿    約1/2 -3/4 杯
    楓糖漿或紅糖 1 - 2 大匙
C: 烤香的核桃   1/4 杯
    枸杞           2 大匙

1. 將A料放入玻璃瓶中,放置冰箱浸泡一個晚上。

2. 第二天早上,將浸泡好的燕麥片從冰箱拿出,與B料ㄧ起放入食物調理機中打爛。*牛奶量的多少可依個人喜愛的濃稠度而定。

3. 倒入鍋中加熱或也可以倒入碗中以微波爐加熱。

4. 將鍋中已加熱的燕麥芝麻糊分別倒入兩個碗內,分別撒上C料即可。
